A vegades no calen més arguments: només és rock'n'roll, però m'agrada!

"It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (But I Like It)" és una cançó de The Rolling Stones publicada l'any 1974 primer com a senzill i posteriorment formant part del 12è disc de la banda, "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll".

La història d'aquesta cançó, però, comença l'any 1973 a Richmond, en un estudi de gravació de la casa del guitarrista Ron Wood, aleshores guitarrista de "The Faces" (amb Rod Stewart) i després de formar part dels grups "The Birds" i "The Jeff Beck Group".

Wood havia convidat a l'estudi, entre d'altres músics, a Mick Jagger i Keith Richards; aquell dia també hi havia David Bowie... Fruit d'aquella trobada musical Jagger i Richards van escriure la cançó, inspirada per Ron Wood, i van gravar-la allà mateix amb David Bowie acompanyant a Mick Jagger a les veus, i amb Willie Weeks al baix i Kenney Jones (Small Faces i, desprès, The Who) a la bateria.

Per al disc la cançó van gravar-la, en una versió molt semblant a la gravada inicialment, els integrants de "The Rolling Stones" de l'època: Mick Jagger, Keith Richard, Mick Taylor, Charlie Watts i Bill Wyman.

El senzill va pujar com l'escuma a les llistes d'èxits, assolint el 16è lloc Estats Units i el 10è al Regne Unit.

Després de la publicació del disc l'any 1974 el guitarrista Mick Taylor va deixar The Rolling Stones; el vídeoclip de la cançó "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (But I Like It)" és precisament el darrer clip en el que apareix el fins llavors guitarrista del grup. L'any 1975 Ron Wood deixa "The Faces" i entra a formar part, fins avui, de "The Rolling Stones"!
