#MinutsMusicals del 1974 amb "Burn" de Deep Purple

Al 1974 el rock dur ja feia anys que es feia sentir, des de finals dels anys '60, de la mà de grups com Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath i, naturalment, Deep Purple.

Recollint el testimoni de grups i artistes com Jimi Hendrix, The Kinks, The Who, Cream o els mateixos Rolling Stones a finals dels anys '60 del segle passat van brillar una sèrie de grups que van transportar el rock cap al rock dur (hard rock) començant a marcar el que després seria el "metal" i "heavy metal".

Un dels grups de capçalera d'aquesta època i estil és Deep Purple, amb cançons mítiques com "Smoke on the water" i discs imprescindibles com el doble elapé en directe "Live in Japan".

L'any 1974, 6 anys després de publicar el seu primer disc, el grup va publicar dos discs més, fet que dóna prou mostra de l'alta activitat creativa i musical de la banda; el primer dels dos editats fa 40 anys va ser "Burn", disc del que avui destaquem la primera, i homònima, cançó. Per cert, aquest va ser un dels primers discs que es van publicitar per la televisió.
